I know I’m going to get flamed (that’s okay), but I really think the overall timing and release plan for the Kindle DX is a huge strategic mistake that’s going to come back and bite Bezos in the butt.I’m a K1 owner. Bought two of them in November. When the K2 came out just a couple of months later, yeah, I was disappointed that I didn’t know the new version was just around the corner…just like a lot of current K2 owners are feeling today. But, folks are right. Amazon has every right (and, frankly, obligation) to keep pushing new products and technology as quickly as we (consumers) will buy them. And, honestly, my K1 isn’t obsolete – despite every reason I tried to give myself to justify buying the latest/greatest K2. I decided to just wait to see if the next version (ostensibly K3) made enough of a technological leap (for me) to buy a whole new unit.Well (finally getting to the point) – the fact that Amazon released the DX so quickly after the K2 (even amidst rumors of yet another version coming out in the Fall), is going to make me (as a consumer) less likely to pull the trigger and purchase the K3.Yes, a technology company has to keep pushing the envelope…but they also have to balance it with consumer willingness to fork over for the latest/greatest.I think you’re going to find this poorly timed/marketed release is going to ultimately result in lower overall sales of the next version of the Kindle (the K3 or whatever they want to call the next version)…because a lot of folks are now going to hesitate to pull the trigger since Amazon could likely release a newer version just a couple of months later.Just my opinion. Flame away…:-)
