Oprah,I’m an Elementary School Math teacher and I’ve had this idea for a number of years of combining a Kindle and Tablet PC and integrating it with SmartBoard technology. I’ll call it the MAC-TabletHere’s the idea:1)For the past 10 years textbooks continue to grow in size and weight. In fact, the backpack industry has specifically redesigned their product to include wheels for this very reason. If we could continue to pressure the publishing companies to include educational textbooks to go to eBooks we could help alleviate this important issue. Students would no longer have to break their backs lugging around this suitcase of textbooks. It could all be contained in the MAC-Tablet.2)If we could combine certain capabilities of the Tablet PC to the Kindle, specifically the ability to write directly onto the pad. Students would be able to write their homework and notes onto this device. This would allow students to have only the MAC-Tablet in order to write their notes on instead of 5 different notebooks.3)You’ve probably noticed more and more SmartBoards in school classrooms and if we could figure a way to have the MAC-Tablet communicate with the SmartBoard to transfer information back and forth this could assist students in many ways. Students could send their homework to the SmartBoard to be displayed to the rest of classroom. A teacher could refer to specific examples that students completed.4)Most important about the SmartBoard is that the teacher’s notes could also be recorded and stored for all the students to have access to. A big concern as a teacher are the student who can’t keep up with note taking demands during class. Often times students are focused primarily on copying the notes and not the comprehension of the lecture itself. They are so preoccupied with note taking that they miss the concepts that are being taught. Another added benefit are that students who are absent in that they can also access the missed information which has been saved and stored and can be accessed off site.Homework, textbooks, lectures, and notes all on one device. The ability to do this would revolutionize the education community but more importantly it would create a better environment for children to learn. Please join me in my passion and help me make it come to fruition.Sincerely,Rob McAusland
