(1)Currently paper books are more profitable than eBooks for publishers. That seems counter intuitive, but I think that is correct. (Google it before you challenge me on it.)(2)Right now Rowlings sales are strong. She is unwilling to give up a more profitable DTB sale to an eBooks sale.(3)After the last HP move is released interest in HP is very likely to drop off with the lack of any new material.(4)At that point Rowlings will relent (with some fanfare) and allow HP to be published in eBook format in an attempt to boost sales and waning revenue.I have nothing to base this on but logic. I generally assume that successful people have some logical purpose behind their decisions. Sometimes I’m wrong and they are just crazy.
I’d bet money that in the end this is a business decision and that her comments about the value of reading on paper are part of a planning marketing campaign designed to maximize long term profits of the HP franchise. My two cents,John
