eReader Zone

OK, I now have my Kindle 2 and have been a reading a book. The same book is on my iPod Touch. When I open the menu on the iPod it asks me to synchronize but it appears to only synchronize on the iPod to my last page open, not to the Kindle 2. After dinner here and I read my book on my iPod, came back to my Kindle 2 but now the Kindle is in the same place as when I left. So how does this synchronization work?
