International user first experience wuth whispernet

So I live in Japan with my Kindle, and the only other experience I have had with Whispernet, was actually accidental. :}But today I am in Hawaii, and have total whispernet access. And sadly, thus far I am underwhelmed. Prehaps it is because I have been busy, and have only been able to look at my kindle a few times, each time downloading a book I had previously bought, but hadn’t downloaded to my computer (and thus moved to my kindle) yet. Each download took longer than I expected. I was under the impression that whispernet was ‘super fast". But so far I haven’t found it to be any faster than downloading to my computer. I did try the Kindle store once, but got confused, and had to drive off (to my hotel) anyway, so I put it down. Right now I am recharging the battery and it doesn’t seem to want to "eject" so I can play with it as a recharges. I have discovered that interrupting my kindle communing with my computer leads to bad things, so if it doesn’t want to eject, I just leave it alone. So, I guess my bottom line is that I really don’t miss having whispernet at all. Which is probably a good thing since 99% of the time I don’t have it at all.So for all the International users who fear they are "missing out", I would say, "Not!":DBut that could just be inexperience on my part. Maybe when I have a chance to really play with it (after the battery charges), I’ll feel differently.
