Is Amazon losing money with Whispernet?

Posted by Kindle 08 May 2009 No Comments »

A recent article[1] I read commented on the recent change of policy for downloading PDFs via whispernet to your kindle (from a flat 10¢ to a ceil(15¢/MB)). Their deduction was that Sprint was charging them too much and they had to pass the buck on to the customers.I’m wondering if this is why they added native PDF support into the DX, to lower down the bandwidth usage of whispernet.Does anyone know (have read articles) if Sprint is paid a flat fee, or if they get a cut of the profit for book sales?–!!!
