Kindle 1 screen frozen – even when power is off

This seems to be happening more often, so I thought I would see if anyone else is having the same experience. I downloaded the current issue of Amazon Daily to my Kindle, and clicked on a link in one of the articles to bookmark to read later. I probably clicked the menu button to add the bookmark before the web page had fully loaded, but I’m sure I have done that numerous times before. I really don’t know for sure what caused the screen to freeze. I’m sure this issue has been addressed in earlier posts, but this is the second time in less than a week for me!I tried all the buttons – next page, previous page, back, and menu… and nothing happens. I turn off the WhisperNet connection, and it’s still frozen. I turn off the power and ditto: frozen. I think I even tried disconnecting the battery with no change to the frozen screen. I finally used a paper clip to hit the reset button on the back of the Kindle, since nothing else seems to work.I have had this Kindle for several months… maybe even close to a year. Until about 3 weeks ago, I had never had this problem occur. Now I’m looking at a frozen screen for the third time! In less than a month!I can’t remember, but I think I lost my bookmarks and my notes and clippings when I had to reset. Does anyone know if this is something that I am doing, that causes this freeze to occur, or is it just "one of those things"? And if it’s only a random issue, then I wondered if it might be related to possibly using the WhisperNet feature during a software update? I’m at a loss as to why this has happened repeatedly… and I’m not looking forward to losing my notes/clippings again. Is there any other solution besides the reset button? Any way to avoid the frozen screen issue? This is driving me nuts!!!
