kindle 2 durability issue

One of the web sites I check regularly is the Yahoo Finance Message Board for Amazon. (Be aware that many posters are bearish or even short Amazon stock so the predominance of comments is negative).Nevertheless, the issue of Kindle durability has been raised several times. The perception is that -this is an item you carry with you;-it can easily slip from your hands or from your lap;-it is much less durable than a cell phone or ipod;-if you drop it, even in the leather cover, the screen will stop working;-it cannot be repaired; -the cost will be 50% of retail to replace it.I suspect that these perceptions are correct and that, as more of these units are sold, there will be more damage complaints not only on Yahoo but in the "legitimate" press as well.I would hope that, as part of its design process, Amazon would look into more screen protection, even at the expense of extra weight or bulk.Thoughts?
