Kindle for iPhone questions: Is there a USB download equivalent for non-U.S. residents? Is the app available in non-U.S. iTunes Stores? What is the reading experience like?

I’m wondering if an iPod Touch might be a good option for beach reading, since it’s a bit cheaper and seems less sand/water sensitive (so you could dispense with the Zip-loc). Here are some questions I have:– I live overseas and download all my books via USB. Is there a way to do something like this that doesn’t require Whispernet or U.S. cell phone signal access for the iPhone and iPod Touch?– (And I presume it works on iPod Touch?)– Is the Kindle for iPhone available overseas? The iTunes Store in Japan is completely different, as far as music goes.– Reading the online manual for Kindle for iPhone, display issues aside, it seems like you need to swipe your finger to page. This makes it sound like it’s a two hand operation to read, one to hold the iPhone, and one to swipe. Most of my Kindle reading postures involve holding the Kindle with one hand, thumb balanced over the Previous Page button, so I can page almost by "thought" by making the slightest imperceptible movement (I presume) of my thumb to rock the Previous Page switch. Given the smaller page size of the iPhone, I wonder how annoying or distracting the second hand movement would be. Any thoughts on that, by people who have actually used the iPhone to read a dozen or so books in the 500-page plus range completely on their iPhone. (I’m capable of making uninformed surmises on my own, so those without this experience need not reply.)
