Kindle review by a Fuddy-duddy

The New Yorker has an article reviewing the Kindle, characteristicly written by a fuddy-duddy.http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2009/08/03/090803fa_fact_baker?currentPage=allI enjoyed reading it because the fellow writes well. What I suspect is that he doesn’t spend much time reading. He critique reminds me of the people years past who spent considerable time and effort comparing computer calculators to the abacus. And, no doubt in this world there are those who still prefer a quill pen to a keyboard of any sort. The Kindle is a technological work in progress. Any reviewer should acknowledge this reality and discuss strengths and weaknesses in this context. In summary I believe the New Yorker should have commissioned a review that was, of course, well-written and that a Kindle-user like myself (K2 and DX) could send to a friend to use to help decide if that individual wanted to take the plunge.Would you send this review to a friend as a fair discussion of the Kindle? I wouldn’t.
