Loading converted PDF file to K2–what am I doing wrong?

Hope someone can help me with this! I have a pdf document that I sent to xxx@free.kindle.com, and they returned a .azw document to me. I connected the K2 via USB and copied the document to the "documents" folder. However, the document never showed up on my home screen. It was only after I emailed it directly to xxx@kindle.com that it was added to my content (with a charge, of course). What did I do wrong? I have another pdf document coming shortly that I want to add to my Kindle. Do you perhaps have to restart the Kindle after the document has been added to the folder? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
