New Kindle 2, is the dark grey background normal?

Hello all. I just received a new Kindle 2 last week and I love everything about it except the background seems to be a dark, rather than a light gray. I can read fine if I have a light shining directly on the Kindle but I can’t read on it very well if I can’t get light directly on it. Is this normal?I know how to change the font size and line spacing and have adjusted both, but compared to a regular paperback book, I find that I need a lot more light to be able to read comfortably on the Kindle.I’m just trying to figure out whether I should try to exchange this Kindle for another one, hoping that I can get a lighter gray screen or is this pretty much how it works? Thanks,Joe

I agree with the Kindle three (3). I was ready to by the Kindle three, but the background was so much darker than the Nook. The Nook was much easier on my eyes.
