Odd shipping notification

The volume button on my husband’s Kindle 2 broke, so we called customer service and they’re sending a new K2, free 2 day shipping. A day later (yesterday), I sold my K1 and ordered my own K2, which shipped that day. This morning, I woke up to an e-mail notification from Amazon, that the replacement K2 order was being delayed until the 27th. The 27th! Now, this isn’t an emergency, since the husband can still use his K2 in all ways but the volume, but why the delay? The K2 page doesn’t say "temporarily out of stock". The order was due to ship since Sunday. My order placed yesterday shipped no problem. I’m baffled, and tempted to call CS and ask the reasoning.
