Oh, this was so cool!

After a long career teaching English, I retired and now substitute in the school where I used to teach. So, the other day I was in a studyhall and reading Christopher Morley’s book of essays, "Pipefuls." I always enjoyed Morley’s quietly civlized prose and his droll observations on all manner of topics.Well, in an essay titled "A Discovery," he mentioned coming upon a book in a used bookstore called "Old Junk" by H.M. Tomlinson. He waxed enthusiastic about Tomlinson’s prose, and I thought that, if it it’s good enough for Morley, it’s good enough for me. So I turned on the wireless, called up the Magic Catalog, searched for "Old Junk," found it, and downloaded it–all in less than 2 minutes.Had I tried to do this in the days before Project Gutenberg, the Internet, and Kindle, it could have taken me months to find that book–if I ever did. When I mentioned this miracle to the students, they were not impressed.
