Problems with PDF and Kindle DX
So I have a fairly large collection of articles I’ve saved from various law journals that I use in my practice, all saved in PDF format. I purchased the DX almost exclusively for the ability to carry my entire law library, including these pdfs around with me.No real problem there. My problem lies in the kindle dx’s recognition of the author from the pdf metadata; sometimes it chooses to recognize them, sometimes it doesn’t.And I can’t figure out what makes the difference.I noticed that over the years I’ve saved my pdfs in various compatibility formats. It appeared that the format recognized by the kindle most often was 1.4x(5.0 and above), so I went through about 30 of my files and resaved them in the upgraded format. Sure enough, files that it didn’t previously recognize the author suddenly sorted properly. But not all of them. Double checked the author was there. Yup.Double checked the proper compatibility. Yup.I even noticed that one of the authors in one of the files that my DX recognized was spelled wrong, corrected it, and resent it to my kindle.Yet the Kindle DX continues to pick and choose which pdf’s it wants to read the metadata for, and ignores the corrected author.I’m completely baffled at this point.Any thoughts?
