Reselling? Please?

I would LOVE to buy a Kindle 2 or Kindle DX! But I can’t justify the cost of it. I am not complaining about the initial cost of the Kindle, but rather my inability to recoup that cost over time. When I buy a new book from a store and enjoy it, I often lend it to friends so they can try out the author. Usually if they like it, they will go out and buy more books by that author. If I discover I don’t enjoy a book, I can give it to a friend that might enjoy it or resell it.But the Kindle doesn’t allow me to loan books to friends, or even resell them. I am really trying to figure out why Amazon hasn’t found a way to allow this, or gone back to the publishers to negotiate this ability. I know that people will say that it makes it too easy to steal the books, but there are so many ways around that. Adding this ability would not only have me immediately purchasing a Kindle, but I would probably start pushing friends and family members to buy them too. Can someone explain to me why Amazon can’t add a way to resell and/or loan ebooks?
