Samples vs Books in 2.5 — the Menu button

If you tend to be quick on the trigger, be careful with samples. While reading a book in 2.5, the default Menu option is Go To. While reading a sample in 2.5, the default Menu option is Buy this Book. It may have always been like that but I didn’t really get caught until last night.I accidentally hit Buy when I meant to select Go To so I could go to the beginning of the sample. Of course it was easy to cancel immediately. The funny thing was that after I finished the sample, I decided to buy the book [again]. It is only 99ยข.I like books about the tech industry, even if they are not novels. The book and sample I was working with is Artificial Imagination. It has some very interesting (and not always flattering) things to say about our favorite company disguised as Congo.com and its CEO Joe Zebob. To insiders like us Kindle users, some parts are funny. But … big warning … it may be the worst formatting you’ve ever encountered, at least on a 6-inch Kindle. I have no idea how it would look on the DX, but it’s great on the Kindle for Mac app and many of the photos are in color. As I read it on my K2 last night, a lot of text was running off the edges to disappear into the ether. Other text overlaid the main text. This was all caused by a huge number of photos of the areas where the author had worked. If they had all been placed at the beginning or the end, it might have worked. But trying to run text around them caused serious problems. I reported the formatting to Amazon but said twice in the email, using solid caps, that I did not want [yet another] refund. I also didn’t want to make bad formatting the subject of a different thread.
