Still not happy with lock-in

I passed over the Kindle in favor of a competitor (Cybook Gen 3) because of Amazon’s eBook sales model for the Kindle, which doesn’t allow you to read copy-protected (DRM) eBooks from other publishers on the Kindle. (And that includes books published using Mobipocket’s software, even though Amazon owns Mobipocket.) I would love to have a reader like the DX with the larger screen for reading technical documentation, but I’m going to continue to wait until Amazon decouples hardware sales from eBook sales — or I’ll buy a competitor’s device.
