Text File Problem on Kindle
I have been transferring some of my text files to my Kindle 2, and the files are very readable on that device. There is a problem, however, which I am hoping someone here can help me with. It is this: Following transfer of the text files to the Kindle, I notice that random errors in spelling start showing up on the Kindle display. * The word ‘From’ may become ‘Front’* The word ‘to’ may become ‘o’* The word ‘tell’ may become ‘;hell’* The word ’some’ may become ’som’* The word ‘he’ may become ‘be’* The words ‘come to me’ may become ‘cometome’The errors do not always repeat, either in the same document, or in other documents, but errors of this kind do occur in all of the text files I have copied to the Kindle. And yet they don’t exist in the document that was the source of the copy. It’s as if they are randomly occurring. I have copied the questioned file back from the Kindle to my computer and compared it with the original source that was copied and found them to contain the errors. From this it would seem that the Kindle is correctly displaying the file after it is copied, and that the error occurred somewhere in the copy process itself. I have never seen this happen when copying from computer to computer, or from one disk drive to the same /or another drive so I’m wondering if the Kindle is doing any processing of the file before it is actually recorded in the Documents folder. I look forward to any suggestions you may have. BTW: I am using MS Vista Home Professional on my computer, and I am using the standard copy process available in Windows.
