The "you can’t share them with your friends" argument

Another thread made me realize something about a common theme amongst the $9.99 or less crowd. The value of sharing a book with a friend. A number of boycotters have frequently used the non-sharability of an ebook as one of the things that reduces an ebooks value for them. My question is this; what exact dollar figure does one put on the experience of sharing something you enjoy with a good friend? Put another way; what is the least amount of money you will accept in savings that will leave your good friend high and dry?
