Transfering Documents that have been converted…

Posted by Kindle 09 May 2009 No Comments »

I have been trying without success to transfer a book I purchased from somewhere other than the Kindle store. I sent it to the free kindle address to be converted and they sent a link back. When I click on it, a message pops up to either save file or open with… I tried both. When I click open, it never gives me options that will actually open the text well enough to read and save it to transfer to the Kindle. When I click save, it saves to a file and then I have to open the file and then can click on the document and hit send to… to move it to the kindle. Then I drag it into the document folder. It looks like it is on the kindle. When I unplug the USB cord and look, the book is not listed on the home screen. What am I doing wrong? I have windows vista if that makes a difference. I was just trying to save 15 cents every time I bought a non-Kindle store book but I am apparently not smart enough for this.
