Why buy Kindle books, it makes no sense?

I got a Kindle 2 for a present. The idea is good download books anytime, have a set of books in a small package, blah, blah, blah. But why should I bother even using it? I can’t loan the books out to anyone (like paper books) even though a have bought the book. I cannot get any of the titles I want. I cannot get text to speech. The average paper back is just as easy to carry around as the Kindle. Since I usually only read one book at a time who cares if I have 10 books stored in the kindle (provided I could get the ones I want). The difference in price between buying paper and buying electronic from Amazon is negligible! And this is with the publisher making money hand over fist because there are no printing costs, no distribution costs, no warehousing of inventory costs, etc…Sure they have to convert to electronic and do some inventory but these are virtually one time costs. What are the extras that you get when you buy books via the Kindle? This can only be described as a joke.
