I’ve been watching the Discussions here, and have noticed many desires for non-restrictive books. If you buy a book, most don’t want to have to buy it again if they acquire a new reader device, say an iPhone or Blackberry. It’s a waste of money(from a buyer’s perspective, not a retailer’s).I recently came across a site that will allow you to do that. Once you buy a book, you can download it on:epub; Sony Reader (LRF); Palm Doc (PDB) ;PDF; RTF; Plain Text; Kindle (Mobi). You can find it: www.Smashwords.comMost books allow Sampling some 100%(free books obviously) others less so. 10%-50% is the norm. I’m an author and I have my books set to 25%(Have 14 published through Smashwords.)Some authors opt to designate their books "You set the Price." Meaning, that when you buy the book, you can pay what you think the book is worth. Buyers tend to opt for "free" in these instances, and that’s okay. What’s the downside you might ask? The site is relatively new, been out since 2008, and most mainstream publishers haven’t made their titles available through it. I suppose that’s due to the fact they would like customers to buy multiple copies for their various devices, more money for them. Currently it’s primarily a site for Indie authors, quite a few are good, some downright garbage. I strongly advice the use of the Sampling feature unless you’re familiar with the author.I myself write fantasy books.
